Can anyone give me pointers, tips or instructions on how to make a skinnable VB application. Doesn;t need to be made skinnable by the user, I just want my app to have a tailored/unique interface. (by skinnable, my definition is design a graphical interface using bitmaps, etc.)

There actually is a way, and it is very simple. Stardock has a control called "DirectSkin," which does exactly what you are asking for. You can get a demo at , or, you can go out and buy a full version for at least 400 bucks, but you should check the liscenseing page. --Dan Hirsch

not to beat a busted drum, but is there anyway to do it for less than $100?

I made a near perfect clone of the MSN Explorer with less than 10 hrs work using bitmaps. You can use a Timer with the WindowFromPt API to to trigger hover events and the Picture_MouseDown events to handle your clicks. You can use a borderless form and the SendMessage API to simulate a click on the caption bar of the window or a resizing event.

There are a lot of free skins projects out there. Check out I didn't like the projects I found so I did it the way mentioned above, but that was last year you may find something better now. Have fun :)

I have some classes that will do this for you... I can send them to you if you want them. It may take me a while to get them together for you... maybe a day or so. If you want them, email me at bjd4jc@yahoo.com
