skin in vb 1

Did anybody tried to use skin in vb? I am trying to write an application which has custom skins and can be changed runtime. I am not looking for ActiveX that would help to do that

I am trying to find out logic for doing customized skins and how it can be done in vb for my application.Is there sample code available ? I dont want to use third-party activex control for that.

I understand that there are some API call which allows you to change picture ,shape of a control and even add 3D effect to control. I would like to know more about that. How to use those calls and I am looking for sample code.
