I've created a public directory for the public to save data, and I'd like to restrict the size of this particular directory to 100M.

Actually, what I'm doing is a Blog site that allows public to post attachments, which are stored by the system in a folder. Files are written using Apache:Apache as the user and group.

I think that you want to look at quota, but not knowing how you assign permissions or define your filesystems makes it a little harder to determine if this would work easily for you.

You may want to reconsider giving the apache user write access to a system folder.

Better ways, use PHP file upload facilities and create a login procedure or store files as blob in a table.
