Situation
I have a user called john doe.
Mr. Doe has two e-mail addresses in my company, jd@mydomain.com and jdoe@mydomain.com. This is setup via Postoffice ID (jd) and the GroupWise Aliases (jdoe)

Problem
When bgates@microsoft.com sends a distribution list out that has jd@anotherdomain.com Mr. Doe receives it in his inbox when he isn't even on the distribution address list. Another user in my domain, janed@mydomain.com who the original message is intended for receives it. When Jane replies to all, jd is addressed the message just as if he was in the original distribution list. The originator is running GroupWise on Novell as well. I just need to find out if it's my problem or their problem. So far this is the only domain that I am having problems with but I should be able to protect from it if it's not my problem.

Configuration

GroupWise 5.5.4
Novell 4.11
Novell NLM GWIA
GWIA is set to expand groups on incoming messages

Anyone with questions please let me know it's a little strange and I may have not explained it enough......

Strange! I don't know what would cause this to happen but you should be able to stop it by setting the GWIA SMTP Incoming option to block the messages. You can also block Outgoing messages as well if you like. I don't remember exactly how to find these settings but just check the Documentation. The messages actually end up in the GWIA Problem directory so you can delete them later.

Update....

Tried to simulate the problem last weekend by setting up the situation myself. Using outlook express I could not reproduce the issue. I've determined that the issue has to be how the two GroupWise systems are talking to each other. This is the only problem that I have and with only this particular domain. I am going to do some more testing and let you know.

Ken,

Thanks for the reply, I am baffled on this as well. Looks as though I'm on my own on this one. If I ever do find the answer to my problem I will post it here and let everyone know, thanks. For now I'm not going to block the address, I will do some more testing and post the results here......
