Sites and workspaces

Iwant to create a subsite under a top-level site. Ordinarily I would just 'Create new' under 'Site Actions' and then pick 'Sites and Workspaces'.

However for this particular site the only options under Web Pages are 'Basic page' and 'Web part page'.

The sites and workspaces option is available on all the other top-level sites I operate. Can anyone help me to work out why this site doesn't, and how I can go about changing it?

you may not have rights for this. to confirm if this is an access issue type the following URL in your browser:

http://WEBAPP/sites/ROOTSITE/_layouts/newsbweb.aspx

let me know if this gives you an "Access Denied" error. if it does then i guess you dont have the "Manage Web" rights for this site...
