Hello,

We have a site to site vpn between two checkpoint appliances. We are having intermittent issues with an FTP that runs overnite. Sometimes it is disconnected. in the log file, you can see that it is disconnecting and it says 'unknown established TCP packet'. Yet, when I restart the ftp, you see the key negoiation and the ftp start up again. Granted, the ftp takes about 4-6 hours, but why does it keep disconnecting. The service listed says '2888', but yet it is an ftp.

thanks in advance

Does it fail to establish the FTP or after about 1 hour?

The FTP will work for X period of time, then disconnect. You are able to fire it off again and it will resume.

it sounds like a session time out

will it work and then again straight after then stop working if it has been idle for a while?

the ftp is running without a break and then all of a sudden, it craps out without any notice, in the middle of the ftp. I can then restart the ftp and it continues to work. this is quite a pain considering the amount of data we are ftp'ing back to the office.
