We have a SIP trunk between the main office with Asterisk PBX and the branch office with Avaya PBX which are connected to a site to site VPN.

The scenarios are:

Placing calls from the Main Asterisk PBX and having the call route through the SIP trunk and out of the branch office Avaya PBX using the spare branch office avaya DDI listed as the caller ID.

if I call a mobile number where the branch office is located from the Main office IP phone (Asterisk) the mobile should see the call coming from the branch office DDI we allocate.

Having an inbound call to the spare branch office DDI route through the SIP trunk to the Main asterisk PBX displaying the caller's number as the caller ID.

Thanks

The question is, is this possible?

In Avaya this works using SCN. But not sure if this work in asterisk and avaya

How to route the incoming call of DID of branch office using avaya pbx to Asterisk pbx? Is this can be done in SIP or ICR?

I can't find the extension numbers setup in Asterisk PBX from the list of extensions in Avaya pbx.

okay incoming calls of DID from Avaya system is routed to Asterisk.

2nd task I need to setup now is to dial out from Asterisk system to any external number (Mobile number) where the Avaya system is located. This should use the Avaya system to call out since the external number(Mobile Number) and the Avaya system is located in the same location/country. Caller ID appears to the external number(mobile device) should be the same DID set from Avaya system.

Is the above possible?

Yes it's possible.

You'll need to set a route on Asterisk to send the calls to your Avaya.

Your ICR on the Avaya will then need to accept the pattern, and send it to the appropriate destination for routing, eg:

Note that if you have a voice networking license it's actually easier to do this with H323 channels (and use chan_ooh323 on the Asterisk side) as you can apply short codes directly to the line/trunk. An added benefit is that incoming calls don't use any channel licenses.

Thanks Shaun.

Is it possible to create a shortcode also from Asterisk side to dial out number using Avaya number?

Can you please confirm how I can force the Avaya to be used perform outgoing calls when dialing the number from Asterisk side?

Basically I want to dial out an external number from Asterisk side but using the Avaya PBX to call the external number dialed from Asterisk.

Hi Derfloh,

Tried that but when Asterisk dialed out an external number, it rings the Avaya extension internally instead of going out to an external number.

Set up short codes from Avaya to Asterisk over the Sip trunk. This will work.

how to setup a shortcode from SIP trunk?

Create a short code Example 8N; N"@10.0.0.1" and your line ID for the Asterisk trunk (10.0.0.1=Asterisk PBX IP Address). When you dial 8 it will send traffic over the Asterisk trunk. On the Asterisk PBX have a DDI for Example 5000 (this is an extension on the Asterisk PBX) point this Incoming number 5000 to extension 5000. Do the same for the Avaya system.

Hi Bahmonkeys,

The shortcode is already setup in Avaya. Extension to extension calling is already working fine between these 2 pbx (Avaya and Asterisk)

The issue that I want to accomplish is when Asterisk wants to dial an external numbers where the avaya is located, it will push the avaya to call out. And then the caller ID that appears to the recipient is the telephone number of Avaya.

This is easily done using SCN but not sure when using SIP trunk.

One more question is, is there any way to setup a shortcode on the SIP trunk?

Thanks

SIP Trunks do not support short codes. That's only supported on H323 and ISDN.

You need an incoming call routing entry for the SIP trunk line group. Empty number with target . (Just the dot)

Then it will follow the IPO system short codes.

To be honest it would be better to hire someone who knows the system implementation better.

IP Office remote service
Fixed price SIP trunk configuration
CLI based call blocking
SCN fallback over PSTN

@rsv23
You want to display the number of the Asterisk system when the Avaya is making a call over the Asterisk system using the SIP Trunk?

@bahmonkeys

No, I just want the asterisk when it dial out an external number where the Avaya is located (Avaya is located in different country) it is automatically use the avaya system to call this external number.

For example, when Asterisk dial out 09250000000, it will use the Avaya system to call this external number (09250000000).
