Hi all
we have site to site vpn connection (Nortel contivity)
we want site2 to be able to access the internet through site1!
is that possible and how?
thanks

If you've got a proxy server, it's easy. Do you have one?

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

no I don't, but please could you please tell me if i have one what to do?

Well once you have a proxy server running (ideally) at your main site, you simply enter the proxy details in the internet browsers of your workstations at both sites. This can be done automatically through a group policy (if you're running a windows AD domain).

There is a proxy server forum on this site, you could use anything from Microsoft ISA, to Squid (which is free). I have not used Squid before, but apparently it's not too hard to set up.

thank you
the thing that I don't understand is we configure the contivity with our private networks on both side so how would the internet traffic go through the vpn?

Well with both sites being connected by a VPN, the fact that the proxy settings on the workstations refer to the computer on your main network, will tell it that it needs to go to the subnet with that address.

ah ok that's right
but if I don't have a proxy ! can I do it in ?
