Good thing I'm half blind or that yellow background would have torn my eyeballs out! How about something like a nice light gray?

Also, center the Send button at the bottom of the textarea.

I also wouldn't count on people to follow instructions (from plenty of experience). I'd make the page with a separate text input for the first 4 items, then have the body of the text in the textarea after that.

Hi Clive.

If it's functionality and standards you're interested in, your first stop should always be here. Once you validate that, go onto here to validate any and all CSS you may have.

Lee, Not to mess with the not-so-blind I have changed the background. I had wondered about people not reading and had considered doing what you suggested. Unfortunately, this leads to the problem of people not reading and not putting 3 blank lines. How about if I just had them input the first line separately?

cLFlaVA, I have noticed you mentioning this in several replies and I totally agree with you. However, in this particular case, the underlying code does validate, it is mistakenly parsing the code in the textarea. The code in the textarea does validate when it has gone through the conversion process. Would welcome any additional feedback as I know you are on top of this stuff.

Whatever someone CAN mess up on your page, they will. One site I worked on was for a college, and the required input was the SSN, or college ID equivalent in the same format. These GRADUATE college students couldn't follow instructions, and I had to make 3 separate input text boxes that checked each keystroke to make sure it was a digit, then jump to the next box after each set (3 digits, 2 digits, 4 digits). Viewing the login file before this showed these geniuses using email addresses, nicknames, real names, and all sorts of other things for an input box clearly marked COLLEGE ID NUMBER. These were pharmacy students who couldn't follow simple instructions. Makes me glad I'm into natural medicine as much as possible!

Thanks for changing the background color for even us old geezers. :)#

Sorry Clive.

I admit that when I first went to the site, I didn't really "get" the concept, and didn't press send. Now I get it though, you're parsing the middle textarea, building a webpage, and then supplying the user with three frame pages.
