First review I have asked, I am basically after functionality issues and download issues, address is:

The heaviest accessible image load will probably be in the sample gallery. I don't really need a content review, so please don't go and stare at it for hours, I wouldn't ask anyone to do that :p

Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to help out,

very nice Tarwn!
The colors look very good together and the content is very clean looking.
I like the green text on the green background. very easy to read.
The images load at warp speed on roadrunner.
The added functionality like the view stat's are a nice touch.
The index page fits great in 1024* and still only a short scroll in 800* with good margin widths on both sides of the content. (can't say that for my site :) )

two things I did notice.
why not place your link as the webmaster on all pages (unless this was a client request)
and I would have your link in the Contact Information page to your site open a new window.
second thing, there are no <title>'s for the pages. probably something no one else will ever notice though.

awesome work! ---------------------------------------
{ str = &quot;sleep is good for you. sleep gives you the energy you need to function&quot;;
ptr = /sleep/gi;Nstr = str.replace(ptr,&quot;coffee&quot;);alert(Nstr); }

Hi Tarwn,

Nice site, very crisp looking.

A couple things:
1 - In your nav bar tighten up the space between the words so that About/Contact fits on the same line as everything else, the links have too much space inbetween the words
2 - I would use a form mailer instead of just the email address. That's only my opinion though, depends if your client wanted that or not.

Ted,
I didn't see any horizontal scrolling at 800*600.

Nice Job Tarwn!!!

Hi Nate,
I was refering to vertical scrolling. I always like it when the default is not too long causing a high vertical scrolling effect. :)

although you couldn't tell that by my last design :( ---------------------------------------
{ str = &quot;sleep is good for you. sleep gives you the energy you need to function&quot;;
ptr = /sleep/gi;Nstr = str.replace(ptr,&quot;coffee&quot;);alert(Nstr); }

Spyderix, could I ask which browser your using? I'm not seeing the word spacing issue or the line wrap on Contact/About... That section is basically allowed to expand all the way over to the date and only has a
Code:
&nbsp;|\n
between links so I'm a little confused if I introduced something into the CSS that isn't rendering or if maybe I justhave an adverse effect on certain browsers.

Silly me, forgot the other parts :p
Thanks for the two window pop-ups onpnt, I was just using a _new and anchor tag for the ordering link but will switch to a controllable window.open.
As to the site link, that makes sense, luckily that portion is easily changeable (include file) because I knew I would need to change at least the anchor this month (I hope) when I get my site at least finished enough to go public with it.

Nate: Concerning the form mailer: Normally I would prefer that as well, but I have already given my client better than he expected from my time estimate and it is in the future plans once we see how well the site goes, along with shopping cart, booking calendar, etc. Even though it is a relatively small script it's lumped in behind several other things in importance so hopefully I will convince him to go that route, but I'll have to wait to see how the site works for him in general.

Thanks again guys,

Tarwn,
I like it too. Especially the colours but I tried it over a white background as opposed to the brownie one and I thought that looked nicer, but that's just personal preference.
On the contact page, I would make yours and Bill's email live.
No resizing or scrolling for me. XP, IE6, 17&quot;
Nice one, I've learnt most from looking at other peoples sites.

Hi,

Bit late coming into it, sorry if I repeat,

IE6, 1024*
Nice simple clean site. good use of colours!
Loads fast!

Only 1 or 2 comments:
I'm not crazy about the space between the header table and the body table and also between the body table and the footer table.

For the top links i'd suggest using a different font, just to make the links a little easier to read.
I think my eyesight is failing!

On Sample gallery your client has &quot;Images in this gallery have not been listed for sale&quot; but you also have a link &quot;Instructions For Ordering&quot;

Beside the next and previous links I would add neat arrows: &amp;raquo; &amp;laquo;

Thats about it, nice job!

cian: I'm actually thinking about putting a hit counter on that link in the sample gallery just to count people hitting it :)
Nate: Hm...well I'll try to fix it but I think your browser just doesn't like me because mine doesn't do that...then again maybe it's my browser that doesn't like me :)
Thanks again guys, I'll play with your comments and see how it comes out.

Nice job, just one small point that hasn't been picked up on yet. On the home page, all the headings look like links, but they're not. I also feel that they're more noticable than the real navigation, so some users may try clicking these headings first. Personally, I'd drop the underlining because it may confuse some users.

I like it... [smile] I have not failed; I have merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

blueark: Thanks, this was actually pointed out to me by a little old lady yesterday too. So as soon as I actually get around to updating the page I was going to drop the underline :)
I'll post back when I get it updated to see what everyone thinks of the replacement underline I am going to put in,

Thanks again,
-Tarwn

Hi Tarwn,

The underlined sub-headings are confusing because they are not links - we've got so used to underlining meaning &quot;this is a link&quot;.

You did ask about functionality? As it happens I've been asked to review a photographer's site and was just about to report back to him. If you'd like to have a look at his site/problems then send me an email and I'll give you the password to view the gallery pages. The point is Tarwn, that this photographer (and yours by the look of it) take wedding photos - that means hundreds of photos. To ask people to write down the id for photos they want and send the order ..... well, imho it just won't work. He needs a shopping cart of some description.

My client places a watermark on all photos so there's no point in printing them - not necessary for the sample gallery of course. There is nothing to indicate that the thumbnails in the gallery has a large version if clicked on. I think you've got to tell people what to do here.

It seems a bit slow to load - however I guess if people are expecting to see their own photos they'll wait. You might consider reducing the size of the thumbnails?

Hope that helps some.
Jill.

Well, I'll offer a different twist on the same theme. Overall good design. Like the colors, font is just a shade small for me, but wouldn't complain. (IE6 1024 X 768)

Several have noted the headings look like links, suggested taking the underlines off. Something has to be done, but I would take the other route and link the headings. Surfers can't/don't read. Start talking about something I'm interested in, you better take me there NOW. Don't make me figure out or read instructions to get there. The links at the top don't stand out real well, but I don't think that is a bad thing if you link the headings.

I would also change the heading 'Galleries' to 'Private Galleries' (especially if you do choose to link from there). I see the word 'galleries', I think 'samples'.

I would also consider dividing the sample gallery into different catagories; sports, weddings, portraits, etc. Each type of photo has it's own rules for composure and when placed on the same page they tend to distract from one another.

Again, overall good design, don't change too much or you'll screw it up.
