Hi,

Can you please review: for me. Tell me what you think of usability, layout, colors, etc.

AND

Please test my Tek-Tips login. There were some problems with it before and I need to know if they have been fixed. You will need the flash player to view it.

Thanks alot and have a nice day! NATE

SPIDERIX
Might want to use a lighter gray. The text is a bit hard to read.

Scrollbar track might look better as gray also. I like to always keep the face and track different colors.

I entered handle / password and clicked login and join and it doesn't do anything in Tek-Tips login.

The site is awesome as before!!! [bomb]
I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
but how sweet that 15th time can be.

Hi...first off, like the site...looks nice. Now for my comments:

1) Like the design and the color scheme, but i'm still not thrilled with useing blue as a link color, further down the page it kinda gets lost with the black bg...try making it a lighter color...

2) The "Copyright Information" and "Privacy Policy" should be smaller, you have it the same font size as the rest of the site...

3) Tried the "tek-tips login" function, and sadly it does not work...I typed in my info. and it said "Invalid information entered", and it shows my password, but not my username!

4) The side links should really be smaller font then the rest of the content...

Other then that, I like the site... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

onpnt,

You always spell my name wrong LOL (SPYDERIX)

Anyway what grey area should be lighter, the table bg's on that main page or the sidebars?

As for the scrollbar I don't know if I want to change it or not. I have now changed it to that dark grey. What do you think? Personally I don't like it.

GUJUm0deL,
What color should I make the link colors, and you think they should be smaller?

I will make the COPYRIGHT and PRIVACY POLICY links smaller.

As for the Tek-Tips login I don't know what to say. It works for me, and a few others I know that have tested it for me. I just modified it a bit. Can you please check it again. Make sure you aren't using a cached version. Empty your Temporary Internet Files, then go to the site, then try the login. Make sure you are using the correct case.

Thanks alot! NATE

I'm a bad, bad man.
from now on just spell mine opnt to get back at me. You're right. I like the scroll bar the other way it was also. [bomb]
I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
but how sweet that 15th time can be.

Tek-Tips login
error method not allowed now [bomb]
I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
but how sweet that 15th time can be.

SPYDERIX, yep, the side links should be a tad smaller, maybe by one font size or so...this way you can set it apart from the rest of the content of the page.
As for the color, hmmm might wanna try a lighter color so it bounces off the dark black color, try any of these: #ADFF2F, #F8F8FF, #F0FFF0, #98FB98 or #9ACD32...
About the scroll bars, maybe try the light gray for either the scrollbar-track-color or scrollbar-3dlight-color...you can either use: #C0C0C0 or #D3D3D3... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

GUJUm0deL,

I have made the side links smaller but I'm not going to change the color. I didn't like any of the ones you gave me. I have a set color scheme that I'm sticking to so that my site doesn't look like a rainbow.

Also the scrollbar is made to look like the tables with the gret outline. If I make the trackcolor grey then it will detract from the outline. Besides, you can't always see the black bg on the page and the sidebar is next to it anyway.

I really screwed up my action script and the Flash forum has helped me fix it. So can you try again and see if it works now. Try all the buttons.

Thanks alot! NATE

OK,

All the links have been made smaller. Is that better. Plus I changed the headers at the top of each page so that doesn't look like a link.

Within a week or so I will be adding a menu so that navigation is really easy, and is easier to find all of the navigation instead of the user searching throughout the whole page.

This is just the base site for now. When I get the time I will make an interface for the site.

Does the Tek-Tips login work??? For anyone.

Thanks! NATE

Hi, ummm, what size are you using?? I would like use maybe 11px or so...
The © 2002 Spyderix Designz. All Rights Reserved. should all fit on one line, or have the "All Rights Reserved" fit on one line...
Have you tried making the side links (like "Enter" "Gallery" etc...) underlined?? Would have a nice feel to it...
The headers (Adobe: Photoshop, Online Help Forums, etc) should fit on one line...
I'm not sure if you meant to do this, but at the bottom of the page you have: "We hope you enjoy your time at but the is not a hyperlink(??)
As for the colors, it doesn't look that bad, kinda nice...
Sorry if i'm being too brutal... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

GUJUm0deL,

For the links I am using size 14px. (I use CSS for all the links) yes I could underline them. Haven't tried that.

Now, You say that Adobe: Photoshop, and Online Help Forums, and © 2002 Spyderix Designz. All Rights Reserved do all fir on one line even at 800*600 resolution. Is your text size set big? Goto VIEW|TEXT SIZE|MEDIUM (I hate how you can change that. You see, people won't see the site the way I intend them to if there are able to change the text size, bad call on Microsoft's side I think).

"We hope you enjoy your time at That isn't supposed to be a hyperlink. Do you see it as a hyperlink I don't. Do you think it should be. All it would do essentially is refresh the page seeing as how it is the home page anyway.

What about the Tek-Tips login, does it work for you now?

Thanks for your comments! NATE

Nate,

I hate how you can change that. You see, people won't see the site the way I intend them to if there are able to change the text size, bad call on Microsoft's side I think

The reason for this is so that a user can specify the text to be larger if they have trouble reading it the way that you specify it. Microsoft have not made a bad call, this is a good idea and also legally keeps them safe.

The only users that will likely use a higher font are the ones that need to, if they did not use it, then they wouldnt see your site anyway, so where is the problem?

BTW. I won't comment on your site as you have already had them over the last few weeks..

Hope this helps Wullie

wullie,

Sorry about that statement. I understand that some people will need to view the text bigger and that that is why it is there.

Any one else who comments on this site please make sure the text size is set to medium before commenting.

Thanks for everyone's comments and feedback! NATE

SPYDERIX, just looked at the site again...
As for the underlines, I think it looks good, might wanna see what it would look like if the underlines went away at hover...
I checked my Text Size and its set to medium, i'm assuming the majority of ppl. have it set to medium as well right?? At that, the "Adobe Photoshop", etc...all appear on two lines...check to see if you have an extra
Code:

...
Instead of using the 14px. why not use 13px?? What font are you using?? It looks like Arial to me...the side links, side link headers should be smaller font, as should the copyright, contact info, and privacy policy...just to set it apart from the rest of the page...you can define a CSS class for the side links, footer links...
The tek-tips login script works great...
At the bottom, "We hope you enjoy your time at instead of writing why not just write this: "We hope you enjoy your time at spyderix-designz"...?? I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

GUJUm0deL,

What resolution do you use? And you do use MSIE correct? What version?

I am not seeing the headers go on 2 lines. I use 1024*768 but even in 800*600 they are on one line with the text size set to medium.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

Thanks! NATE

I do not see this.
The only way is as stated to go to "larger" text setting [bomb]
I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
but how sweet that 15th time can be.

Hi SPYDERIX,

the tek-tips logon is working for me!
Nice looking site. I especially like the tek-tips logon.
Not liking the blue links though. Doesn't really fit the rest of the layout.

Here's my deal. I've got a big thing about grammar, probably 'cause my mom's a teacher and really drilled it into me.

I'll focus on the 'webpage.shtml' page
First of all.. My opinion is that when you have a page with lots of text, you should try to break it up a little. Maybe use a few headers with a slightly different colour or maybe bold. I think it makes it easier to read. I find people tend to scan rather than read every single word on the page. They want to find their information and find it fast. Breaking up the colour makes it easier for a title or phrase to pop out at the visitor.

Here's the grammar part...
'We offer:

Web Site Deign (spelling mistake)
Web Site Updating
Web Site Maintaining (maintenance?)
Graphics Design' (graphic?)

'Please contact us to enquire(inquire) about our services.'
'With the seemless(seamless) integration'
'We you come to use for a webpage'(missing letters)
'Do you want movies, sounds, or animations?'(no s with sound and animation)

I think the following line is tantamount to shooting yourself in the foot.
'We ask that you know what you need so as to increase efficiency and help increase the speed in making your site.'

You haven't made any sale, and yet you are making demands to a potential customer. People are going to be turned off.

Also you are asking visitors to think about what they want, and although I agree somewhat, this line... 'Do you want scripting or any server side languages'
...Suppose a restaurant owner came to your site, do you really think he/she will understand that line. Remember there are tons of people that are still clueless about the Internet and Web Sites, BUT they DO KNOW that it will benefit them.

Don't forget that you're the expert, and that you should welcome questions. When they see that you know what you're talking about, -you're building trust-.

Sorry if all this sounds a little harsh.
But you have a good looking site and from one Canadian to another, I'd hate to see it go down the toilet.

Anyway, was up till 5am, getting tired. >Later

fxcolin,

Thank you so much. Just the kind of feedback I need. You get a well deserved star for that.

If anyone else can spot mistakes like that, or gramatic errors or confusing statements please let me know.

GUJUm0deL,
I will fix that stuff later today. Thankyou for all your help too. If you spot anything else please let me know.

Thanks! NATE
