Hello all,

Could I have a little feedback on a site design ? Ignore the folio, just the look and feel on the site. Thanks for any feedback at all.

Cheers Stephen

Bad boy!
Without JavaScript enabled, no links are visible!
(I'm not the only one who surfs with it disabled, either...)

Maybe some could be incorporated in a <nojava> tag if you really insist on doing it this way, although I can't see it's necessary really - not good for a web design company!

Apart from that, not a bad look to begin with, as I tend to favour simple uncluttered pages, where information comes first. :)

Regards, Andy.

My pathetic attempts at learning HTML can be laughed at here:

It's not BAD. It flows well and is constant. I see you use that navigation on other sites too. Is there a reason you want the cell background a seperate color when you mouseover that, then change the hyperlink color when you mouseover that?

you can do both at one time with css.

here is an example that will do that.
Code:
a.menu:Link, a.menu:visited, a.menu:active {
			font-family: verdana;
			font-size: 10pt;
			color:#000000;
			text-decoration: none;
			background-color:#EEEEEE;
			display: block;
			border: 1px solid #EEEEEE;
			}
a.menu:hover {
			font-family: verdana;
			font-size: 10pt;
			color: #0059a5;
			border-right: 1px solid #D9CCB3;
			border-left: 1px solid #D9CCB3;
			border-top: 1px solid #9CA5C9;
			border-bottom: 1px solid #9CA5C9;
			text-decoration: none;
			background-color:#DADCE7;
			display: block;
			}

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Yes, in your case lose the Javascript. CSS is more than enough for those links.

This is just preference here, but it seems too busy to me; like all of the borders and sections detract from the site content. I'm drawn to sites where the design and layout are the foundation for the content instead of sites where the content seems like an afterthought.

I like the colors.

Terrific ! Really appreciate all of that :) I'll get to work on that and change the menus and even lose some of the sections. Thanks heaps people.

I'd recommend sharpening up the globe image at the bottom right of the page. It would look a lot better if it were "smoother", and maybe only light and dark blue, not blurred where the colors meet.

The bright blue link at the bottom of the about us page (and on other pages), is too hard to read against the dark blue background.

Honestly, I think that the top and left parts of the template don't go well with the blues in the content area. Try to see if you can find other colors besides that green that would go better with the rest of the site. The red could be changed, too.

The font in the content areas would look better and be more clearly readable if it weren't bolded. It would also be more consistant -- why have large font and small links?

Those are the main things I noticed that could be improved. Looks good. With just a little more work, it could look really good.

Rick

Thanks Ristmo, I've already used some of your suggestions ! Not uploaded yet, doing a complete makeover.

Ouch!

Blue text on a red background is a really jarring combination, and may be totally unreadable to some colour-blind people. As pointed out already, blue-on-dark-blue links are unreadable to anybody.

You've also got too many fonts - serif for the logo & body text, sans- for the menu and some links. I think you need to pick one and stick with it (personally I think sans-serif fonts look better for technology sites - more modern).
