Would somone please look at the site (below) and tell me what they think, any suggestions for improvement, possible errors, and ego boosters would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bundle :)
Thanks Again!
John Vogel
johnvogel@homepage.com
<a href= HomePage
WebMaster - DataBase Administrator - Programmer
John, nice neat little site, I haven't seen that fly in menu trick much before :) Just a couple of niggles for me: the what we do page came up larger than by browser size (c. 800 width) and had me scrolling about to read it, and the menus on the map page say Up instead of Our Location like the rest of the pages. I'm using NS4.5.

I had some problems with the left hand menu. At first I thought that it might just be for displaying which page you are on, but I got it to work on the Feedback page, but only if I was just under the graphic (????!) I'm in IE4.

Thank you yaffle, I will look at that What we do page, It is probably a simple table width problem, I am also glad to hear that it works okay with Netscape, as I haven't actually tested it with Netscape yet.
I see what you mean about the UP, and I will also check it out, but it might have to stay that way, in order for the rest of the site to work right, it has to do with FP2000's Navigational structure.

jnicho02, Wow, I don't know what's going on with your browser, it should work fine in IE4, though I haven't tested it on anything but IE5, It shouldn't have a problem with IE4... I would like to hear more from any others using IE4, it may be a serious problem.

Thank you very much for your responces, they are extremely helpfull!
John, just tried this under IE4.0 - no joy on the left hand menu, the graphic comes in but there are no hotspots on it. BTW the what we do looks fine in IE4, still too wide in NS4.5 though.

Are you using percentages or hard pixel sized for the table width tags? Percentages are better for fitting in all monitor sizes & browser types; but sometimes you need a hard one to keep a narrow nav bar from still being 1/3 of the page on a 1024/768 monitor that it is on a 640/480 one :)
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net

*nix installation & program collector/reseller. Contact me if you think you've got one that I don't :)

I use a combination. My main goal is to keep it so that it fits 800X600, yet looks good at 1024X768. I used mostly a percentage algorythm for the Intranet. Unfortunately, I don't see any way of manipulating the width of a Microsoft FP2000 shared border.

I checked the site in Netscape today, and was VERY pleased with the results :) I cannot check the site in 4.0, however, unless I were to uninstall quite a few programs from my computer, and reset a BUNCH of settings. I think I may have fixed the menu problem, however. If anyone with 4.0x browsers could look again, thanks.
Hi there. Thanks for the opportunity to critique. It makes me evaluate my own ideas and opinions about how a site should look.

I'm using IE 4.

Overall, I think this is a good business website, but if I were editing this, here's what I would point out.

I love that flying header and sidebar. Had trouble getting the dynamic navigation buttons on the side to work. The dynamic part worked, but the links didn't.

Your fonts are loading bold, or oversized, in my browser. Is that what you intend?

The photograph of the plant facilities is very pixillated, so much so that I can't really make out what it is. Could just be slow to load.

Your location page just doesn't seem to "go with" your other pages. The clusters of grapes and the mapquest logo look out of place and seem diametrically opposed to the rest of your otherwise cohesive design.

Good luck. Hope you get lots of hits.

Thanks yaffle, it was a simple table width was set up wrong...

writeup,

Thank you so much for your critique, I still have not figured out why my navigation menu on the left isn't working, but I assure I will figure this out (Or die trying).

I hadn't noticed the fonts before, somehow it just totally escaped me that all of the fonts were these huge ugle boldfaced "things". I have fixed that now, it looks SO MUCH better.

The photograph of the plant facility really does suck. It was taken off a small picture and "blown up" to the size it is now. I am planning to bring my DC200 camera in sometime this week (Or next week) and taking some new, better pictures for the site.

I did work on the Location page, killled the MAPQUEST link off the page (As it is on the map page, it was redundant anyway) and lost the grapes (for the life of me, I really can't remember putting those grapes there :)

Thanks for all your great input, this helps me so tremendously, I cannot begin to tell you. If you could look at the site again, and come up with anything else, I would really appreciate it!
John Vogel
johnvogel@homepage.com
<a href= HomePage
WebMaster - DataBase Administrator - Programmer
By the way... I don't know if everyone has seen the finished site that is now live... if you want to check it out, I could use a re-critique :)
NS 4.7

That is good. I haven't seen pop-ups like that in a while and they do what they're supposed to. It adds a nice effect that few people can recreate. Most people use pop-ups in a terrible way.
REH
hawkdogg@crosswinds.net
<a href= by Linux
Learn Linux and Leave out the Windows :)
