Hey All

Just finished my 1st site here :) and so I am after some opinions on how it loads/looks etc.

Also can anyone viewing at 1024 * 768 (thats what I have it optimized for) let me know if the background appears ok. I have tried it on 4 different monitors here, on 2 of them the background begins to tile but only a very small amount (maybe 10-15px) on 1 it fits perfectly and on another I have a big difference (about 100px) on the background. So I am just curious as to whether I need to resize my background image slightly.

Lol almost forgot the URL is
Thanks

Naiku

Hi Naiku

General/About optimizing for 1024*768
Your site looks great in 1024*768, BUT there are still a lot 800*600 users. You are only a little away from making that 800*600-users more happy to avoid the horizontal scrolling.
With the following tips I'm sure you can avoid the horizontal scrolling at all pages.

a) make the entire scrollwindow more wide. There is a lot space on the left- and right-hand site.

b) I suggest to make a font-type smaller in all pages.

c) make the width of the "Contacts" page smaller (left and right side of the images has a lot of white space, it could be a lot smaller)

d) The service page could fit if you move the pictures about 20% to the left in conjunction with the smaller font (b)

f) the clients page only needs the smaller font (b)

g) Move the telephone numbers at the "find us" page more to the left in conjunction with the smaller font (b)

In IE4.0 (version 4.72.3110.8)
h) the slide-menu is NOT working (so watch out with saying "Site optimised for viewing at 1024 * 768 on Internet Explorer 4 or .... [/]"

further
i) I recommend to avoid the vertical scrolling at the home page (for 800*600-users) At the home page people want to see in what the page stand for without scrolling. With a little smaller font and a wider window you can make that.

Hope this helps,

Naiku,

It does load fast and don't see any other problems except for the Menu. When you hover over it and it extends out, a certain section gets cut off on the bottom (The "clients" part) and it's very hard to read or click it. I noticed that it ends at the top of the intro frame and at the bottom of the U in MENU.

I don't know if you wanted this to happen or it just won't fit but I suggest moving the intro frame down far enough to make it fit or somehow let it overlap the frame.

PS: I'm at 1204x768 on IE 6

Hey

Thanks for the replys, the information about 800*600 users I will definately look into. I read somewhere that it was about 40% of users with 800*600 and a similar amount viewing at 1024*768

Pelo is it just the bottom choice of the menu that does not appear? On all the screens I tried it was all visible. I did originally have the menu in the center on the left side but because of the use of frames it went behind the main center frame. Will have to look into that one a bit more as well I think.

Thanks again

Naiku

Yeah, it's just the bottom choice and it is going behind the frame I think. ~PeloGFX

Weird, I wonder how many others are experiencing that. It's not happening here and I have tried on 4 different PC's with different resolutions.

Thanks for pointing it out to me :)

Not for me - I think the pages work well, and look great. For your first site, I am impressed.

But I am easy to impress because when I learned HTML it was code-named "Wilbur". That was a long time ago. Einstein47

get rid of the background it looks cheesy....it just blocks up and is not even excuse me can i have some more

I agree, for a first site its VERY good!!

In IE6, 1024*768

Looks great, the only comments I would have is:
-1- add more consistency to the content tables especially regarding width and justification. the tables look different sizes, especially if you compare "About Us" to "Contacts" or "Clients", and maybe center them, contacts doesn't look great because its shifted off to the left.
-2- I'm a sucker for prominent menus so i'd prefer to see a menu more central, have you considered redirecting the Home/flash page to a sort-of Welcome page which will contain browsing directions?? Just a thought.

In Netscape 4.79

The only comment is that the flash thingy has a white background!!

Good job!

Hey

Thanks for all the responses :) I think the first thing I need to do is try and figure out the problem with the menu, then align the tables a bit better.

Thanks again everyone
