Hi there: Customer has MICS software T1. Carrier recently changed from analog CO to SIP. Sip provider had us install a SIP to analog CO gateway, or ATA as I will call it.

Symptom: When you begin to dial digits, if you pause to look down and reference the number for more than 2 seconds, the intra digit (no key dialed) timer is expiring on the ATA and the SIP server comes back with "your call cannot be completed as dialed"......due to incomplete number of digits dialed.

The provider and I were playing around with the timer, increasing it from 2 to 6 seconds (4 is default) is not having any effect on the symptom....HOWEVER, if I plug in my analog handset directly into the ATA the changes and the ATA are working okay.

What in the Nortel could be affecting this....it seems like something in the MICS is telling the gateway to initiate the call after 2 seconds, regardless of what the no key timer is set to in the ATA.

Short term workaround was to enable pre-dial (F*82) so that they can pre dial the number before hitting a line appearance key.

In SystemProgramming/Dialing Plan look for Dial Timeout and bump it a little higher each time until they are happy.
If you make it too high then those who can dial quicker will have to wait for that time to end.
