Have a customer with an asterisk based PBX system and wants to do SIP trunks. Their data connection is 10MB ethernet over copper which connects to a cisco 2821. The VOIP phones are connected to a cisco switch and the computers to the phones. The ethernet connection is on the gigabit0/0 and the switch is connected to the gigabit0/1 port of the 2821.Internet works fine and the phones connect to the PBX no problem, but the SIP trunks will not pass from router to the PBX. If the PBX is taken off the network and connected to one of the other available public ips, it sees the SIP trunks just fine and as a matter of fact that's the way it is currently set up. All the phones are connected to the router and communicate remotely with the PBX. Ideally we would like to have everyone on the same network living in harmony. Just know the basics as far as cisco routers go. Is there something special that needs to be done to make this work? Any advice would be much appreciated.
