Have a customer and we have setup GFI faxmaker.
If making/receiving faxes through the 3300 using PRI it goes out g.711 and works fine - both out and in
If making/receiving faxes through SIP trunks (ThinkTel) according to the wireshark it is always trying to negotiate t.38. - We do not want this.

I have made sure that the zones are the same (no intra zone faxing) - in fact deleting it all together
Under Codec settings set the t.38 filter to yes - to not negotiate this

For some reason the 3300 is still sending the option to try and negotiate t.38 with the GFI.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to stop this and force g.711?

I might be the sip carrier try T.38. I assume that if this fails it will choose G.711. Why would you not want it especially going out sip trunks? Don't know the GFI, but can T.38 support be removed or diabled in their settings?

what is the interface to the GFI , is it PRI BRI analog or sip ?
is the thinktel sip trunk set to restrict codecs?

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

jpruder - unfortunately this is part of planning to migrate them to vMiVB so no t.38
Billz66 - SIP trunks to GFI. ThinkTel is not set to restrict... Maybe I will get them to not allow t.38; Although the wireshark's show that the request for t.38 only appears to be coming from the 3300.

Thanks,
