Hello,

I have a IPOffice V2 system that is running 8.1(85) and using Rogers SIP Trunks on a dedicated Fibre line. The calls are working fine in and out but after about a week the SIP lines will no longer communicate correctly with the Multi tech fax finder. (It appears it can't negotiate properly)

I have attached a basic trace of a call that doesn't work and one that does from another system.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank You

Working Fax finder

Why dont you have the fax finder connected to its own trunk with the ITSP rather than via the switch?

ACSS - SME
General Geek

SIP and fax servers (and IVRs, and modems, etc) just don't play well together. Fax servers rely on analog signals. SIP trunks (or any other VoIP) converts analog to VoIP and then IP Office recreates the analog signal. The recreated analog is not same as the original and will have issues with handshake or poor quality or just stop in mid fax.

You can ask the SIP provider to use 64K (g711) for the fax trunks instead of the standard 8K packet, and that will give a more precise sound that may fix your problem. Otherwise, you may need to get new old-fashion trunks as suggested above.

They just have the one trunk coming in and it is authenticated to the internal IP.

It turns out that multi techs newest release has an issue with 8.1 but works fine with 9.0.

I had to downgrade the fax finder 3.0.4.5 to make it work
