I am trying to SIP trunk a 450 to a CS1k without MCDN. Is this even possible? Do I need to set it up as Public and not Private? Thanks

Try it as public.
I don't think you can tag the TON as private without MCDN.

MCDN is listed as a requirement. My experience is that without MCDN you will not get private networking or site to site CLID.

I got private calls working without MCDN.

You don't need MCDN to do private networking. On inbound BCM calls, just remember that you can't use the private received digits field for the target lines. You have to use public entries. Name and CLID info is also not sent but you should have no problem making station to station calls. I do it all the time.
