IP Office with 5 SIP trunks working well through Draytek router. I have configured a backup WAN using a 3G dongle but the IP Office rejects calls until I reboot the IP Office (when normal ADSL wan is down and backup wan is active).

Any thoughts?

Is the option OOS (out of service) turned on or of in the sip trunk.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Assuming you mean 'Check OOS', it is currently checked. I am not onsite at the moment but will try and test with it unchecked. I need to be careful disabling WAN1 while off site in case I cut myself off!

We have had a lot of trouble with Drayteks recently and unexplained issues with SIP trunks and remote phones, it has always proved to be the router but they don't know why, rolling back router firmware helps...but they don't knis why, needless to say we are looking for an alternative mid range router to recommend/supply in future :)

'Check OOS' makes no difference either way. Not sure I can blame the Draytek on this one as rebooting the IP Office makes it work and not rebooting the router. I can also browse the Internet quite happily when the 3G failover activates. Can anyone recommend an alternative router (ideally with 3G failover)?

Try the register timer (register expiry)
It think that when the timer is set lower then it will reregister much quicker.
When you set it to 1 minute then it will check the registration every minute.
By default this is set to 60 minutes.

mrplacid you mentioned that you got the SIP trunks working on the Draytek, what model and Firmware are you using, are you using Draytel or another provider? I am having trouble on a 2830Vn have got them working on a Thomson Router so i know everything else is working and it must be the Draytek, i have changed the SIP settings within the router as per instruction from Draytek but still no good.

any help would be most appreciated.

I think it is a IP Office issue, have seen this before ( no Drayteks involved ) were the provider went down and restored shortly after then the IPO wont register without a reboot.

A simple mind delivers great solutions
