SIP Trunk - send SIP Name

can anyone advise how to send the SIP name on an external SIP trunk call. When you call between SIP extensions you get the caller name, externally though it just shows the SIP extension number.

I've ensured on the user the SIP name, contact etc is set with the name, also played about with the Trunk setting with PAI/setting internal options etc but no luck, through running WS traces, always just shows the SIP number.

posting on here as there are so many different settings on the SIP Trunk side which imply they could be related but too many permutations to keep trying each different one and testing!

Does the provider support sending names? Most don't. If they allow in which header field do they expect the name?

Its not related to the sip provider though, its for call recording, with the call recorder detecting the name through a mirror on the lan port. So long as the ipo sends the name, it should be detected on the call recorder. Works on internal calls but not external

Most times names are sent in the FROM display part (before the <SIP:xyz@abc.de> part)

Yes thats where i need it to be, any ideas on how to get the ipo to do it?

Set up the URI as Use Internal Data, then you can set the name in the User's SIP tab

Gamma do not accept Name - but then you would be hard pressed to find anyone in the UK that does.
