Hello all,

First off, we have not had many complaints on our NexVortex SIP Trunks, and they all seem to be working quite well. The only complaint I can recall is sometimes the user will talk and hear their voice eco back.

Anyway, I wanted some more eyes on how I have the trunks configured and maybe y'all have some suggestions to make them even more solid. Always striving for perfection over here:

So with NexVortex, they provide two different ITSP Domains. Below is how I have them Configured. Thoughts?

Are all uses experiencing the echo?
Echo can be related to network issue, not usually a trunk configuration. If it's happening to all users randomly, then it's likely a network issue.

Another source of echo is when using a soft-phone on a computer and you don't have a headset plugged in or the computer has poor echo cancellation. Always use a headset.

Travis Harper: Not all report it however I am with you being most likely a network issues. Its very rare I hear about it however some clients mention it randomly.

I use to like NexVortex a lot but it seemed like the last customer who used them they were transitioning to pure hosted. I kept hearing things from techs like "we dont usually do that we just do hosted" and it kind of drove me away from them as they would make statements about why would you buy the equipment you can just go hosted... Other then that I have had good success with their support team.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

critchey: I have not experienced any of that. But that would annoy me for sure. Aside from that their SIP Trunks are rock solid and tech support is top notch.

Well, let's think about this.

If it were a trunk issue, then the issue would affect all users.
If it were a configuration issue on the IP Office or SBCE, then the issue would affect all users.

Random issue, against random users, is a clear hint that this is network related. This does not necessarily mean the network is at fault. It could be a device on the network that is consuming a large percentage of the available bandwidth.

When I was managing an office years ago, I had to do some creative DNS, and a squid proxy server work arounds to prohibit bandwidth wasting applications on the network..ie.. no Youtube, Netflix, Facebook, etc... Today it might be easier to just increase bandwidth, if that is an option.

I will say the higher level tech support guy I worked with was incredibly knowledgeable and stuck on the phone for quite some time (multiple hours) to get the issue resolved. Other then the hosted talk I was pretty happy with my dealings with them.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

critchey: Yes they have no issues in helping you out for hours. Steve is the man over there. Who do you use now? White Label was legit as well. CoreDial is the worst company I have ever worked with. Avoid them like the plague.

Curious - When you programmed the NexVortex Trunks, anything differ in your programming vs mine (no SBC)?

We suggested Flowroute for a while but their support seemed to fall off really bad. I have started to like ClearlyIP because they can handle disptachable location for 911 calls through the trunk and their cost for e911 services are very cost effective (couple bucks a month).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

I think configuration wise what you have looks good. Only thing I can't remember is if I setup the diversion header to be able to pass originator phone number (it has been a while).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
