Hello everybody.
I know Nortel and then Avaya never released the option to support SIP sets on BCM but has anyone any suggestion as a workaround? It is very useful to have soft clients on iphone and android phones so maybe a SIP softphone registered to a gateway and then connected to bcm may do the trick. Anybody has any live implementation?
thanks

Nikos

Hey there Nikos,

Back in 2009-2010 Nortel Avaya was in the process of preparing an upgrade for SIP compatibility on the BCM, but IP Office trumped it and it was eliminated from the BCM product line. So there is no SIP compatibility on the BCM. That's why some BCM individuals are upgrading to the UCx (which is designed by the same team that designed the BCM at Nortel) from E-MetroTel which supports SIP....and SIP clients, as stated above, are offered on IP Office from Avaya.

Joseph Yes i am aware of UCx option but we are talking of replacing BCM at all when using UCx. The customer need is to use a mobile client along with BCM.

Hi Nikos,

I don't believe there are any mobile clients available for the BCM other than an i2050 soft phone for a Windows Laptop. The only SIP functionality on the BCM is SIP trunking on the later software releases.

Joe I know this for good,
also MVC2050 was an option in the past but all this is history now.
My question is if someone has tested to connect a sip gateway to bcm via analog station and register any mobile sip client running on android or iphone direct to the gateway. So when the softclient goes offlook it will get the bcm dialtone of the analog extention. Would it be a working solution?
