Hi guys,

can i use the IPO500 as a SIP server?

I already have analog phones and outgoing PRI trunk working.

I just want to add some SIP phones as internal extensions or to switch an existing analog internal extension to a SIP internal extension.

Is that possible with IPO500 cause I only read about SIP trunks.
Do I need more hardware/licenses to support this (e.g. VCM) ?

Thanks in advance.

You have to wait untill version 4.2 is out.
Avaya ip office only supports SIP Trunking at the moment

Thanks for the quick answer!

Will wait till 4.2 then :)

even with 4.2 it you will need a license per sip user. what you could do is put a very simple SIP server program on the local network and connect the 2 systems together over a sip trunk. works very well, all sip users could dial out over the trunks on the IPO, and every user can contact each other with name showing on screen. what you don't get is hunt groups with members in each and simple features like park etc. But a very cost effective solution. I have a site with 50 avaya users linked to a CirPack 180 SIP user system. They plan to roll out all the sip users eventually to avaya.
