Interesting observation.
I have a BCM 50RLS6.0 that is successfully running SIP trunking. I had an extra 1140E, so I decided to add the Nortel SIP 2.2 firmware and run it independently of my BCM. It works quite well with my current voip.ms SIP provider and operates as a great standalone phone.
As much as the BCM is feature packed, it baffles me why this standalone IP phone with free firmware has the 4 additional Nortel CS1000 ring tones (for a total of 8 ring tones) and call buzz call waiting prompt and the newer BCM system does not. Caller ID is also greatly enhanced on this pure SIP phone and Name and Number are BOTH displayed when an incoming call comes through. Has anyone else noticed this as well?
BCM is all about choices and features, and I believe having the ring tones and caller ID readout standards of all the other Nortel software platforms would really be beneficial to BCM users.
Does anyone else agree?
