Hi all,

have a 3300 running 9.0.3.15 software.
system is connected via SIP trunk to a SP.
all is well however from time to time the Mitel sends a Options Request message to the SP. The SP returns with a 502 Bad gateway and the Mitel tears down the SIP trunk.

I'm assuming this Options Request is sent to check availability of the service. the reason why the SP is returning 502 BAD gateway is cause the Request options does not contain any detail re: the telephone number.

Normal requests like register etc contains this info - obviously.
SP says they are looking into this but I need to look at it from my side too.

Questions
1. can I turn off these random (appears to be random) Request options messages

2. can I manipulate what is in this message (I think not but may someone has seen something similar and has a work around)

3. Can one change the 3600 sec registration timer to something else. I know the session timer can, but this is not the same.

thanks in advance

I'm led to believe that MCD allows one to turn of these keep alive messages

You need to look at the SIP peer profile options for the SP trunks.

Ensure that this option is set to NO:

Enable Mitel Proprietary SDP

And you may want to discuss this option with your service provider:

Limit to one Offer/Answer per INVITE

Hope this helps

Sorry, just re-read your post. The OPTIONS request sent to the SP is to query the SP as to its capabilities without ringing the other end.

I don't think this can be turned off.

it can in MCD 4.0 I'm told.

Under network element there's an option for always active - this will stop the keep-alive messages
