Have a strange one here.
On my system, I have 3 SIP trunks (3 different service providers). Service providers 1 & 2 work fine with absolutely no issues.
Here in Australia, one of our main service providers 'Optus' refuse to give out SIP credentials to force you to use their own modem. As we all know, this means the trunk comes in as a SIP then is converted to a POTS line.
I ended up taking them to their industry body and won the case to obtain the SIP credentials because I refuse to use their rubbish equipment.
I've set up the SIP trunk using my experience from establishing the last two however here are some of the problems I'm experiencing:
-When I call the line from a mobile/cell, sometimes It doesn't even ring or register any activity in Sysmon.
-Usually, it works fine if I'm calling the number from another SIP service provider
-When I hang up on an inbound caller from one of my J series SIP phones, it clears the line on sysmon but doesn't disconnect the call at the other end on a mobile/cell phone. If I'm calling SIP to SIP, the 'Bye' message works fine and it disconnects.
They are trying to withhold as much information as possible as they don't want the information getting out to the public. They first provided me with the ITSP Domain Name which is ims01.yesphone.optus.com.au. Strangely, you cannot ping this address (it won't resolve). They then provided me with another IP Address which is 210.49.224.133. I placed this in the ITSP proxy address, then used their DNS server and it registered fine.
I managed to Macguyver my way into the Admin login of the modem to view the full settings. Nothing jumped out at me other than the codec preferences which I've amended.
It's strange that I can't ping any of the addresses of the device which leads me to believe they have a setting in the modem which makes all of this communication seamless.
From a Networking point of view, does anything stand out from the information above. Not sure if this matters but on System | LAN1 | VOIP, Keepalives scope is disabled. My network typology is open internet with my public IP Address and I don't believe they support STUN...My networking knowledge is growing but I'm certainly not a professional. I have a firewall active through my Ubiquiti UDM Pro. Again, the other two SIP providers are working fine and I can ping those addresses so I wasn't thinking this was a firewall issue.
I would post the sysmon logs but there really isn't much to show as it's registering fine.
Appreciate any advice/guidance.
Thanks, Tim
