We have a 7.6 CS1000M with Session Manager 6.3. We have been tasked with working with a 3rd party vendor to implement a SIP fax server. We have gotten the inbound, internal, and long distance faxes working successfully. When the server tries to send a local fax, it fails. It looks like their server never receives an RTP stream coming from our side when dialing local. The only difference between local calling and long distance calling is the fact that our local route hits copper trunks first and then goes to digital trunks.
Is there some setting in the copper trunks that I am missing that is denying these calls? Or is it most likely a CO issue? We have one other piece of equipment that has a dedicated PRI and when I forced these local fax calls down these trunks, it worked just fine. But this isn't a long term issue as this dedicated PRI is used on a disaster, Code D server. We cannot tie those trunks up with faxes.
I have done SM traces and entc on the PBX to verify all of this. I did have to do an adaptation on this entity to turn MIME support off before the inbound faxes TO the server would work.
Any thoughts?
