Hi

Has anyone managed to get a SIP ATA working for fax machines. I have tried a couple including the Grandstream Handytone 286 which works fine for analogue phones but not for faxes. I have pure IP connectivity so can't use analogue ports. Maybe I'm missing something on the configuration on the ATA or the IPO 500V2

have you enabled Fax Transport Support on the ATA SIP (base) extension - you get (on rel 7) G711 or T38.

Hi

Yes, I've tried it with G711, T38 and without. I can call another fax, they start communicating then they just hang

It does. I just think I have missed something

On the extension put it on fax.

I have had luck with the Cisco ata with the sip
Load using t38. Limit the fax speed to 14.4k anything faster is not supported by t38.

Thanks for the input. Is that the Cisco 186,187 or 188 that worked?

Cannot be sure it was one of those little box's that has ether one or two ports. And supports a SIP load 186 rings a bell.

[cheers]
