Single User Mode and vi editor

In single user mode on HPUX

vi comes up in line mode, I wish to change it to screen mode.
pg <filename>
produces garbage after you hit the space bar
anything that scrolls messes up the screen

I tried setting the term - no luck with any type
(correctly identifies the monitor type)

It is an HP monitor, works fine when X is running

sam and swinstall will execute in screen mode.

vt100 will most probable work fine.

Also make sure you export your term setting. i.e.

export term=vt100

I believe it should be export TERM=vt100, it should be in upper case by convension.
