I am looking at the possibility of purchasing a copy of Crystal reports. My home is about an hour from work and I hate working weekends or late into the night as I am sure many do. An alternative would be to purchase a copy of Crystal and port work back and forth to my home. Living in the hills out in the country makes dialup/sat/etc out of the question. What thoughts do you folks have about the Crystal Reports Standard version for something like this. It appears I can pick a copy up for under $200.

nicatt,

It depends on what database you want to access, and how you want to deploy your reports.

If you need to use ODBC or OLE DB, you will need at least the profession version. If you want to be able to integrate reports into an application, you will need the developer's edition.

Alternatively, when you leave the office at night, you could save your report with the "Save data with report" option set on. Then, when you get home, you will be able to open the report in any edition of CR, without having to access the database. You won't be able to refresh the report, but you will be able to work on its design. If that suits you, the standard edition should be fine.
