Can anyone recommend a brand/model of single-line or dual-line phone connected to an 016 T/R module that can reliably go 1,500 to 2,000 feet without losing volume. I have a customer with a quantity of outlying single-line phones (the cheap kind) that have very weak handset volume. When they connect a $130 Home Depot multi-line analog - they get pretty good volume and voice quality performance. There must be something out there in the $50 to $60 range that works well - any recommendations??

You might try connecting them to 008-OPT Modules.

The 016 DOES NOT provide 48 Volts, but the OPT comes closer to the old BELL SYSTEM STANDARD.

AND, that's what most of these were designed around.
