I took my 291 today and failed just by a little. Actually a couple of the questions had answers that didnt make any sense but thats another story.

So there was a simulation for RRAS where you needed to do 3 different things such as modify a policy etc. One of the tasks was to create a packet filter for one of the interfaces. You couldnt access every part of the RAS console since its just a simulation and they dont activate things you dont need to use.

I was trying to right click the network interface I needed to make the filter for and choose properties but it didnt do anything. So I thought I just couldnt find it and skipped that part. So I looked up the process on how to do it and it appears that I was going about it the right way but the simulation wouldnt let me get there.

Is it possible that the simulation was messing up? I think if I got this part right I would have passed since my lowest score area was for RRAS.

They are giving me a free retake of the test. I already signed up for the Microsoft free pass so hopefully this means I have 2 free chances.

That's good news. Who did you contact about the error?

I know that on my 291 I had one question that I am 99% sure had a typo in it that rendered all of the answers invalid. Actually, it made it so none of the answers made any sense. But if you changed that one word that I believed to be a typo to another word that I would have expected it to be then suddenly the answers made sense and there was one that was obviously correct. I've run into similar issues once or twice before, and I always make sure to put in a comment on that question at the end of the exam so that someone can review it. You never know the results of a reviewed question, and since I've always passed by a healthy margin I've never been too worried about it, but I like to make things easier/more fair for the next guy if I can.

The moral of both stories is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS register for the free exam insurance/retake from Microsoft before registering with Prometric for the exam. According to MS the free retake offer has been extended until May or June, BUT YOU HAVE TO REGISTER FOR THE FREE RETAKE BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE THE INITIAL EXAM. Once you've booked the exam it's too late. This means that you'll be registering for a free retake before you know whether you'll even need it, but better safe than sorry.

I called Prometric about it. They were pretty helpful.

I registered for my free MS exam before registering for the 291 so like I said hopefully I have 2 freebies now. It just sucks having to take it over again. It was going to be a big burden gone after passing this final test. Ive taken 12 certification tests and never failed one until today.
