Simulate an up Serial Port

Can I simulate an up serial port (Wic-1t, no csu-dsu) without actually having to hook it up to my network. I want to test the router and config with a laptop tied to the ethernet and nothing on the serial and simulate the serial port up.

go to the serial FAQ here and read how to make a T1 loopback plug.. RJ-45.. 1 to 5 and 2 to 4 if I remember correctly
