simply moving stuff in flash 1

I made a preloader and it consists of three layers and it works great. But I'd like to move the contents of it up on the page. Now if I make it a movie clip it doesnt work anymore. You would think that if I select every frame of every layer and move it up it would work -but the result is that it moves along the page-how can you move an animation on the page without turning it into a movie clip??

There's an icon beneath the timeline which lets you modify multiple frames. Click on that and make sure you drag the onion skinning to include all frames. Hit Ctrl+A, then move to suit.
