I want to change the font color and font size for the default Discussion List web part. It *seems* like that requires a lot of digging around with SharePoint Designer and modifying css def's and being careful not to bollix up other pages & sites, etc., etc.

Is there a simple way to do that surgically for a single site?

I'm OK with customizations via the browser, but I'm a bit of a bull in a china shop with SharePoint Designer.

That just says how to create a dvwp and put an exisitng list in the new view. I want to customize the appearance of an existing list (the default Discussion List, but only on a single site).

Once you add the dvwp, you can change the layout and add conditional formatting.

Also, if you have any xsl transformation experience, you can simply go into the markup of the page in Designer and modify the display of the data.
