Hi there,
I have 3 computers in my house right now and i'm trying to get them all networked together so that they can reach each other using STATIC ip addresses.. In other words; (im basicly trying to get all 3 computers to communicate with each other through the router)

A (client)
- gave it an ip of; 192.168.49.2 subnet: 255.255.255.0)
b (IP Router)
- has 2 NIC Cards inside
- for client A NIC i specified the ip; 192.168.49.1 subnet: 255.255.255.0)
- for client C NIC i specified the ip; 192.168.50.1 subnet: 255.255.255.0)

** however, i'm unsure if i should specify a Gateway ip for these? if so, what would it be?

c (client)
- gave it an ip of; 192.168.50.2 subnet: 255.255.255.0)

However tho i really lack the knowledge of networking and could use any help with this as i have no idea on what to do. I've tried some settings but finding it nearly impossible to work.

All 3 of my computers have a fresh copy of Windows 2000 NT Installed.

Computer A can ping Computer B, and Computer C can ping computer B, BUT computer A cannot ping computer C and wise versa.

Could somone guide me to what entries i should enter in my Routing & Remote Access (Computer B).

Previsouly i've tried this;

In Routing & Remote Access... i've entered this;

Interface: Comp_A
Destination: 192.168.50.0
Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.50.1

Interface: Comp_C
Destination: 192.168.49.0
Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.49.1

But they were unable to ping each other.. :( Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Computer A should have computer B (router) as it's default gateway (192.168.49.1).

Computer C should have computer B (router) as it's default gateway (192.168.50.1).

So, if computer A needs to talk to computer C it will send that traffic via it's default gateway. C will replay via it's default gateway.

Computer B does not need any default gateways. It is directly connected to both. However, none of this will work unless you have enabled IP forwarding on the Win2K box. This is off by default (I think!).

Chris.
