afternoon,

i've spent the best part of my afternoon reading documentation + trawling through websites trying to find out how i need to setup my connection.

the situation.

we have a server at a client office, this is used for all their data and sites where all systems are developed and put live (not good working on live files!!!)

we have a brand spanking server here with windows 2003 which we've setup with sql etc which we want to use as the development server (no more working on live data!!!)

the client has a linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway wag54g router

what i want to do is get the new development server to access the client server so we can deploy all updates.

seems simple, but i've found out about 3 or 4 different recomended ways which none of them seem to suit my situation!!!

i'm guessing i need to set the other one up to act like a vpn and add the user we use into the allowed users.

add the ip's into the linksys pptp passthrough

setup new connection on development machine to connect to the ip!!!

after all this will i be able to register the live database on Enterprise Manager on the development machine??

I have remote access to the server, and the router so can make any changes necessary.

hope this makes sense, any help would be a bonus as i seem to be banging my head against a brick wall!!

cheers

dave
