Hi,

I have a rather simple, I believe, question about VPN. When a client establishes a VPN connection to a remote network do they lose connectivity from their existing network? E.g. Client via dialup then VPN connects to a remote network. In turn gets disconnected from their current home network. Thanks for the help!

No..

I dont think so. You would still your existing connection.

If the configuration on the headend device has split tunnel configured, then you don't loose conectivity to the local LAN, assuming the local network is not included on the interesting traffic.
If split tunnel is not configured, then all traffic will be encrypted therefore loosing connection to the local LAN.
