I have no idea where this post belongs so I am posting it here.

We have 3 radio systems, and more on the way, that have remote terminals managed by custom DOS software provided by the manufacturer back in the 1990s. It will connect to the system controllers direct by serial cable, which works reliably, or can be reconfigured to use modems, which is terribly flaky and we are stretching it pretty thin at this point. Maintaining phone lines for this occasional use is expensive. These are all 2400 BPS links.

I have seen devices out there that take in Internet on one side and put out serial data on the other side. At the remote site we need these little bricks, no problem. At our office we could use them, one per serial port, but it would be better to have the serial ports emulated totally in software and sent out over the computer's NIC. Right now the computer we use has XP but it might be wise to migrate toward Win7 at least. Win8 I fear would be a lost cause but maybe Dos Box software can handle it.

Can someone suggest the hardware and/or software that will make this work? At the remote site it needs to run totally unatteneded, it is a long drive and no one is there.
