I have /var/log mounted on a drive which just failed..

I can just mkdir log in var, and get operation again, right?

I'm not over simplifying it am I? I just need a sanity check, as It sounds too simple to me..

No, it really is about that simple.
Just create /var/log, verify your permissions,
edit /etc/fstab, and reboot or telinit 1 and
umount then remount and telinit back if you want
to avoid the reboot.

And when the bad drive is restored, you can remount it and your server will ignore the local directory.

Thanks guys.. That confirms what I thought..

I'm just so used to windows lately.. I'm confused when solutions are so simple =)
