just out of curiousity, can anyone show me/teach me on how to write a QUERY that would check if there are ANY CURRENTLY executing jobs?

thank you very much.

Don't think there's any entrty made when a job starts.
You can look at master..sysprocesses but it won't tell you what is a job.
You can include a dummy entry as the first step of a job and look for this in sysjobhistory.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
