Yes, I know. Telnet is a no-no.
But I have to login to an old AIX 5.1 system with true 3151 emulation as the system relies heavily on the terminal controls for this device.
I can access the system via telnet (using TUN) from anywhere on the internal LAN but I only receive "session not responding" messages when I try from outside out LAN. I'm using port forwarding on the router redirecting a high port 10xxx to port 23 and fixing it to the static lan IP of the AIX server. I also checked our IPTables firewall and this is allowed. I'm thinking there is a configuration on AIX defining the allowable network range but I can't find anything.
Does anyone have a quick "try this" that they can share? This is not a long term issue as I only need to obtain some files for a new project.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
