I have a user who types records directly into a table. He asked, "Is here a way to insert a row where wanted". It appears Access goes to the bottom of the table for data entry when you choose 'add record' then sorts afterwords.

Hi!

As far as I know, they will need to live with this since it is standard Access behavior. I assume that the user wants to add a record right where they are at so they can continue looking through the database from where they left off. Possibly some instruction on the use of the find function will help alleviate the problem?

Actually, they want to cut and paste from the field above. I didn't think this was possible.
Thanks for your speedy reply.

Relational database theory does not allow the order of records to be significant.
One way to do what you want might be to have 2 forms, one showing a list of records and another for input. In general, it's probably better to use forms for input because you can write code to help control what happens and can provide a better visual arrangement of the fields than typing directly into a table.

pbrodsky tip on forms is the way to do it, but if you add a new field (serial number or unique number for each field) make it a primary field then if you customer has items 1 to 10 then 12 upwards they could use a form to input item 11

I think thats right
