I want to develop and deploy an inventory app using SQL server. I have worked with it before but never really deployed it as a single licence/deployment package? What do I actually need for that. I have MSoft SQL Server 2005 on my computer. THen it reads configuration tools. It doesn't seem to be able to create a database with this. I am trying to figure how much it would cost to get legal per licence by using SQL Server. Some of hte developer seats looked really expensive. Well, any information at would be a help. Thanks.

The developer license with media included is fairly cheap for SQL Server. Around $40 USD. If you are missing the other SQL Server components on your computer, then it's a possibility you just have SQL Server Express installed. You can still create databases with SQL Server Express, but it doesn't come with the standard SQL Server Management Studio. I believe there is a free version on MSDN.Microsoft.com for SQL Server Express management tools.

Hello, The server where the app is to reside will need a license other than Express or Developer. MS has information on what all the licenses are for, start at For development I would suggest the Developer edition but the Express edition can be used.
Good Luck,
djj
