Simple question about Meta Tags

HI there,

This page:

http://www.submitcorner.com/Guide/Meta/

describes all the different meta tags. I want to know if these tags only have to be on the index page.

They should only be able to influence the page they're on. If you could set them to influence other pages, then there are potential security issues involved.

Some only have to be on the index page, for example any that deal with search engines not indexing files past that page.

Of course, you might want that on every page, in case a search engine starts looking further down than the root... although whether or not that could happen would be a thread for the SEO forum.
