Simple question about Compacting and using Front/Back end.

If I am not mistaken, to allow users the ability to compact they need to open Access in "open exclusive" mode. If my DB is split between a front and back end, can all users be given "open exclusive" permission on the front end so I can automatically have the DB compact on close? Or will that create a conflict when multiple people are logged on?

You should make your front end an .mde file, then you won't have to worry about compacting the front end. It will also prevent user's from changing the structure of your application. The back-end can only be compacted if all user's are logged out. Use the keyword search of this site (or maybe the FAQ) to find discussions on automatically logging user's off and compacting the database at acertain time.
