Simple phone question 1

Anyone ever had phones that seem to be stuck in Pulse mode? Where you're forced to press * to go into TouchTone mode everytime you want to make a call.

I've seen this happen to an old phone around the work area...and even a fairly new cordless phone at the in-law's. I went swimming through the digital menu on the newer phone and couldnt figure it out. There was also no physical switches either.

Can't say that I've seen that. I do have a small stash of AT&T/Lucent 922, 925, 930, 962 & 965 telephones and they all seem to work as Lucent Technologies designed them.

The 922 & 925 require you to press a sequence of buttons to set the phone for DP or TT. The 962 & 965 are set by selecting the correct option from the programming menu.

If it's a meridian I think you can set the dial type in the CLS (DTMF, Rotary or both). Can't remember how but someone in the medidian forum should be able to help.

Its a Lucent906. I managed to find a plain old analog phone and it works fine.

Just thought this thing was strange...especially since I've encountered it on a relative's home phone as well.

Check on the base of the telephone. You have to press a few buttons to get the phone into touch tone mode.

From the bottom of a Lucent 930....

Tone: Lift handset press PROG ###8
Pulse: Lift handset press PROG ###3
