I'm running Novell Netware 5 and I would like to test some login scripting ideas. The problem is my scripts aren't running. I go to ConsoleOne, find the user in question, double click on them and hit the 'login script' tab. I enter in the commands I want and then I hit OK. Now when that user logs in and I look at their results window my commands have not shown up. I don't get error messages or anything just nothing runs.

Is my server just not running user login scripts for some reason? Hopefully this is just something simple that I have to toggle on but Novell isn't my strong point.

Thanks in advance.

The server doesn't run the scripts, the client does.

IF you are running Win2k/XP in the client under advanced there is a checkbox for "run scripts" on the Scripts tab.

I do see that yes. That is where I had to uncheck 'close automatically' so I could see the results. It's enabled as far as I could tell which is why I thought something was wrong. I've used the client to edit the login scripts as well to see if that would make a difference but it didn't. No matter what I put into the script I get absolutely no output in the results window.

Put in NO_DEFAULT as the first line of the login script. Also make sure that there is an empty line at the end of the script.

Really, you shouldn't be using "User" login scripts. They are inefficient and make your life as an admin more difficult.

I suspect that the problem is that your user scripts are not running.. Check the container Login script (Wherever the user is located, go to the properties of that container, login script).

Maybe there is a command in there like "EXIT" that would abort any other scripts from processing.

Marv you hit the nail right on the head. The container login script was running EXIT at the end. No wonder I was having problems.

Thank you very much!

please dont use user scripts

personally i beleive container or nothing
