The referenced post was closed but I wanted to reply to it. While looking on the web to figure out how to find the actual exe path that a windows shortcut points to in Windows 7 I shared in everyone's frustration. I found out that with just a few lines of code I could write a .NET application that did the work for me. I thought I would share it with you guys as it has turned out to be very useful to me.

Cheers!

Firstly, what is the advantage of your 96k exe over my 10 line VBscript? And secondly, I think you may have misunderstood the original thread: the requirement was to determine, for MSI Installer links, where the link ultimately pointed (as with the old classic Windows shortcuts, and which the VBscript does), not to locate the handler for the MSI Installer link itself (which is what your program does)

strongm apparently there is no value. sorry to waste your time.
